We’re excited to welcome Andy Lipman as Chief Offshore Officer at MOBY Robotics.

Andy brings more than 17 years of experience across offshore energy, subsea systems, marine operations, and offshore critical minerals. He previously served as Director of Subsea and Mining Operations at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), where he co-authored the first class society guide for subsea mining, supported ultra-deepwater projects, and advised coastal state authorities on offshore mineral development.

He also brings direct experience managing the construction of the world’s first deep-sea mining vessel, along with the discipline and mission focus shaped by his service as a United States Marine Corps officer.

At MOBY, Andy will lead offshore operations as the industry moves closer to real-world deployment of subsea mineral collection technologies. His background across offshore execution, regulatory engagement, and complex marine operations will be instrumental as MOBY builds scalable, environmentally responsible systems for offshore critical minerals.

Andy has already hit the ground running.

This week at the Offshore Technology Conference, one of the world’s leading offshore energy and technology events, Andy represented MOBY in meetings with stakeholders from across the critical minerals sector and discussed the future of responsible offshore mineral development. He was also interviewed by New Wave Media, a maritime and offshore media group behind several leading industry publications, about MOBY’s modular, swarm-based approach to deep-ocean robotics and its role in the future of offshore critical minerals.

We’re excited to have Andy on board as MOBY continues building the offshore operational foundation for responsible critical mineral development.
