Friends of MOBY,
We're excited to share that MOBY Robotics has opened its Miami headquarters. This milestone marks an important step in our mission to make sustained operations in the deep ocean scalable, responsible, and economically viable.
We were honored to celebrate the opening with Congressman Carlos Gimenez and Commissioner Raquel Regalado, who joined us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with other elected officials, representatives from local offices, friends, family, and investors.
The event gave guests an up-close look at MOBY's work. Our engineers walked attendees through our flagship platforms, including NEMO, a man-portable autonomous underwater vehicle built for seafloor mapping and persistent underwater survey, and SCOOBEE, an autonomous seafloor crawler designed for tasks ranging from offshore critical mineral recovery to sampling and exploration. Both systems are built with integrated marine life detection and avoidance to support responsible operations in sensitive ocean environments.
The team also showcased several bioinspired robotic systems in development, including a tentacle gripper capable of gripping irregular surfaces with precision and a legged crab robot designed to move through reefs and surf zones where conventional tracked robots cannot. These systems reflect MOBY's broader approach to ocean robotics: systems that can operate effectively at depth while minimizing disturbance to marine life and surrounding environments.
From the beginning, MOBY has focused on developing core engineering, software, and manufacturing capabilities in-house. That approach has allowed our team to move quickly, iterate rapidly, and continuously improve our systems. Our Miami headquarters reflects that philosophy and gives us the space to build, test, and scale the next generation of autonomous ocean robotics.
